The Commons Nutrition Mural was painted by Jesse Kaplan '05 on the walls of the dining hall, referred to locally as Commons, at Beloit College, with a grant from the Chemistry Department/Biochemistry Program. Unfortunately, some students did not understand the symbolism of the rabbit being sacrificed on the food pyramid. The food pyramid was developed by Prof. Walter Willett of Harvard University, and led to the change to the food pyramid the U.S. Government had developed by a marketing firm in 2005. As a consequence of the students' confused minds, Jesse's mural was destroyed, and now exists only in cyberspace here.
