Aging protein research

In 2014, it was discovered that fusing the blood circulating in an old and a young mouse caused the older mouse to rejuvenate its heart, brain, and muscles without harming the young mouse. Young blood rejuvenates aging brain - "Next in line was a spectacular demonstration that the transfusion of blood from young mice to old mice reverses aging in both muscles, heart, and brain—effectively a fountain of youth."

A protein was then isolated from the young mouse blood that caused that rejuvenation! A similar protein was then isolated from human blood.

Already, in Jan 2015, this concept is in clinical trials for treating Alzheimer's patients.

And here is a TED talk on "How young blood might help reverse aging. Yes, really"
