Wishing you a joyful and grateful December. Here are headlines to inspire New Year’s hope. I realize many of these notes are only for people with various diseases.  If you know someone with that condition, I hope you will let them know.

A quick note: I will be sending Infomercials for my supplements with research results supporting their use and label them as [Informercial], to distinguish my pitches from Nutrition News.

SHORT NOTES:

HEALTHY:  Getting about 0.5g DHA in fish oil is probably optimal for health. ELDERLY: Just 45 min exercise and 15 min memory training once a week and with extra protein intake improved cognitive function in people over 60;  high-intensity resistance training twice a week is a feasible, highly efficient and safe training modality for combating sarcopenia in adults over 72. Topical rapamycin reduces markers of senescence and aging in human skin: Higher sodium intake reduces grip strength in people over 65. DISEASED: trial scheduled to treat age related macular degeneration via an oral pill. chemotherapy can be avoided for most women who have early diagnosis and biopsy of the most common types of breast cancer; A new technology helps kids suffering from bronchiolitis, asthma, cystic fibrosis (CF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), to breathe freely. AGE REVERSAL: Imagine going back to a biological age of 25 and staying there.

LONG. NOTES:

HEALTHY:

Getting about 0.5g DHA in fish oil is probably optimal for health. More or less increases all-cause mortality.

ELDERLY:

Just 45 min exercise and 15 min memory training once a week and with extra protein intake improved cognitive function in people over 60.

high-intensity resistance training twice a week is a feasible, highly efficient and safe training modality for combating sarcopenia in adults over 72.

Topical rapamycin reduces markers of senescence and aging in human skin: an exploratory, prospective, randomized trial. This seems worth trying.

Higher sodium intake reduces grip strength in people over 65.

DISEASED:

FDA phase II trial scheduled for age related macular degeneration via an oral pill. This may inhibit the inflammation causing macular degeneration.

Molecular checkups to avoid chemotherapy. A 10-year study of 1,365 Israelis indicates that chemotherapy can be avoided for most women who have early diagnosis and biopsy of the most common types of breast cancer. In 97.4% of those passing a Oncotype DX molecular checkup post-surgery, the cancer never returned.

Early diagnosis of thyroid cancer. Another molecular diagnostic test has been developed by doctors at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem. It can early-diagnose thyroid cancer accurately from biopsies of small nodules that often develop on the thyroid. Previous alternatives were inaccurate or expensive.

New technology to help children breathe. (TY Hazel) Researchers from Israel and the US have developed technology to allow children suffering from bronchiolitis, asthma, cystic fibrosis (CF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), to breathe freely. Air pressure and acoustic pulses remove mucus from airways.

AGE REVERSAL:

Imagine going back to a biological age of 25 and staying there. Control click on the image below to watch the short version focused on age reversal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LThTOmYjO8&feature=youtu.be)
