Good news for young and older

Two stories I have to share quickly.  1) On NPR this morning, the main narrator is retiring today.  At 65 years old, he discussed with a friend who is 72, how they are going to adjust as they enter the last third of their lives.  So with about 32 years to go, they recognize 97 as a realistic goal for a healthy 65 year old. 2) And in Science this morning, I read of a new molecule that has been discovered.  BAIBA is produced by muscle cells we use, and flows through the blood stream to convert white fat cells (the normal adipose cells that make us obese), into brown fat cells (the ones that just burn energy rather than storing us, that keep us skinny).  So when we get enough exercise, we not only maintain muscles and burn calories, but our body’s fat cells get converted to burn calories even when we are not exercising.
